XMRV Tests Now Offered by WPI Lab, Not VIP Dx Anymore

The commercial XMRV tests (viral culture and serology assay) that have been performed by VIP Dx will no longer be offered by VIP Dx, but by UNEVX, a wholly owned lab of the Whittemore Peterson Institute.  The serology results will take up to 8 weeks and the culture results will take up to 15 weeks.

The VIP Dx website is no longer active, except for a message announcing the change and stating that, as of June 6, 2011, VIP Dx will not accept blood samples for any clinical tests anymore. Currently pending tests will be completed and reported by VIP Dx in accordance with the VIP Dx testing and reporting schedule. For questions regarding pending tests, VIP Dx’s customer service is available at 775-351-1890 or info@vipdx.com.

The UNEVX website is not operational yet.

Update and Clarification, June 7, 2011: The VIP Dx website got updated to clarify that XMRV testing will be conducted by UNEVX Clinical Laboratory starting on June 13, 2011. VIP Dx has not been sending out test kits for a few weeks and, as of June 6, 2011, they are not accepting blood samples anymore. Patients who have requested test kits recently are currently being notified of the lab change and asked for approval of the completion of the test(s) by UNEVX instead of VIP Dx.
